A Word From Our Guests

HEAVEN on EARTH!
As avid (UK) fans of California generally and repeat visitors to the Sonoma and Napa valleys over the last 10 years or more, I can honestly say that this was THE most wonderful place we have ever visited in this area. We would come back and stay in a heartbeat – it would be fair to say that this lovely retreat is quite firmly now in our top 5 list of our most favorite places anywhere!

The property is luxurious and so highly equipped yet feels very homely and relaxing - you will want for nothing (except to stay longer of course!!). We enjoyed the privacy, the amazing setting, surroundings and breath-taking, changing views and internally, the architecture and design. Come once and a) you just won’t want to leave - evidenced by our own decision to extend our stay and b) you'll want to work out when is the soonest you can come back.

The property's two bedrooms and bathrooms offered unparalleled privacy and comfort, ideal for two couples. Mesmerizing views of the surrounding nature and vineyards enchanted our senses, enhanced by the suspenseful drive up the mountain to this hidden gem. The pool and spa provided invigorating relaxation, enhancing the serene ambiance. From dawn till dusk, we basked in nature's beauty, sharing heartfelt conversations and laughter amidst rolling hills and vineyards. The accommodations were flawless, earning top marks in every aspect. For those seeking a rejuvenating escape with loved ones, this property is an absolute gem.

Heaven On a Hill!!!!
Alan, we can’t express how pleased we were with our stay at your beautiful home. You provided everything we could have needed. All of the personal touches went far above and beyond anything we anticipated! The house is immaculate. The views, stars, serene setting, and quiet were just what the doctor ordered for our relaxing getaway. We loved exploring new wines, and hiking Armstrong Woods park during the day, and returning to the spa and pool for a relaxing evening, dinner at home, and night of stargazing. It was simply heaven on earth. We look forward to many more visits to your amazing retreat on the hill!

HEALDSBURG

Healdsburg is a charming small city located in Sonoma County, California, about 70 miles north of San Francisco. It's especially known for its wine country atmosphere — it sits right at the intersection of three major wine regions: Dry Creek Valley, Russian River Valley, and Alexander Valley. This makes it a top destination for wine lovers, with hundreds of nearby wineries, tasting rooms, and vineyard tours.
Besides wine, Healdsburg is famous for:

  • Healdsburg Plaza: A beautiful historic town square surrounded by boutique shops, art galleries, high-end restaurants, and cozy cafes. It's a central gathering spot with frequent events, farmers markets, and live music.
  • Food Scene: Healdsburg has become a foodie hotspot. Some of California's best farm-to-table restaurants are there, like SingleThread (which has earned Michelin stars).
  • Outdoor Activities: You can kayak on the Russian River, hike through redwood forests nearby, or bike the scenic country roads.
  • Relaxed Vibe: It's upscale without feeling stuffy — think luxury with a laid-back Sonoma County style.

MILL CREEK

Mill Creek is both a scenic natural area and a historic landmark nestled in the rolling hills just west of Healdsburg. This small, picturesque waterway flows from the Coast Range toward the Russian River, winding through dense forests of redwood, oak, and madrone. The creek's quiet, rustic setting offers a striking contrast to the more refined atmosphere of downtown Healdsburg.

Renowned for its peaceful wooded surroundings, seasonal waterfalls, and abundant wildlife, Mill Creek is a favorite destination for nature lovers, birdwatchers, and photographers seeking to capture the rugged beauty of Sonoma County.

Capture The View

What Captivated US

Leafing through the Real Estate Times on a fog shrouded summer, Sunday afternoon in San Francisco, we saw a picture, one of nine on the page, of THAT view. After a few years of driving around Napa and Sonoma Counties looking for the perfect spot, we thought, could this be it? If the “real view” was anything like that small photo, then we may have found our ‘home’.

The next weekend, Alan visited friends in Sonoma County and in the very early morning, drove up to the property just in time for the sunrise. He still remembers it, 23 years later, as a quiet and profound moment. Alan drove back to San Francisco and told Jonathan that the next day we would be having a picnic on that property. The small picture did not do it justice. It was a magical spot. A few months later, in the Fall of 2002, we owned the property!

As an architect (Jonathan) and designer (Alan), now we were the client. Despite, or because of that, the design process took a few years to settle upon a master plan and the look and feel for our new home.  We were very clear from the outset, that we create a sanctuary for us, and whomever we had the pleasure to share our home with. We sought to incorporate not only our own programmatic and architectural needs and dreams, but the very essence of why we wanted to be there: the privacy, peacefulness, beauty of sunrises and sunsets, the seasonal change of the vineyards, the soft summer valley breezes, the settled fog in the valley, the slow sweep of the condors floating right in front of us in the uplifting air and, of course, THAT awesome view.

We finally finished the home in 2010, taking only 8 years to “capture” the view. The property has evolved over the last 15 years, but all of the attributes remain and the sanctuary that we sought to create is ever-present.
